Will it affect the engine management computer if I switch from 25.5 diameter front tires to 27.1 diameter tires? I already know it will affect the speedometer reading.JB

First off...will they fit? A good tire store will have that info in the computer (if they are close).
A better tire store will try them on your car, for free, to see if they fit.

Most speedometers read fast...possibly in order to save persons tickets.

Due to the larger circumference of the bigger tire, per every rotation of the tire, your tire will travel farther and if it travels farther, it will be getting there faster.
