I am new to this site and am glad to be here. I have a 78 malibu two door with a 250c trans with a lock up torque converter. when I bought the car the wires and connector were missing for the lock up converter. I recently found one and would like to know where to hook the two wires for the lock up converter. would be nice to drop the rpm's a little with the growing price of gas. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Jason

I don't fully understand your question.
I don't believe an OD transmission was available as original equipment on this car in 78.
An OD requires some type of "computer" to control it. A 78 had nothing close to a computer.

So I guess you are talking about installing an OD of a later year into your Malibu. There are some various controllers that seem to do this nicely although I've never used one. An example- http://www.jegs.com/p/B-M/B-M-Converter-L ock-Up-Co...

Can you please give a little more detail of what you want to do?

OD transmissions don't need a computer. The overdrive is just another gear. The lockup converter does need a switch to lock and unlock it and even non-overdrive transmissions got lock-up converter. There are several options available. You can hook up the switch the way it was from the factory by finding a stock schematic. You may need some other parts as well. The factory used a couple of different ways to lock the converter up and usually used the brake switch to unlock it. They even used a vacuum switch on some vehicles. You can also use an aftermarket switch. Several types are available.

YES. This IS what I was thinking. I don't know why I kept saying OD in my response.
