Looking for a shell to use for a dragster. Would like a 2 door ht without motor or trans. Anyone having a lead or two...would be appreciated. Will drive and pick up...(up to 200 mile radius) from Augusta GA/Aiken SC. Area. Been looking on line and in papers with no luck (for about a month). Figured this couldn't hurt.

The guy across the street from me has one that he could probably be talked out of pretty cheap, but I have not checked it out for underbody rust. Me and him are on speaking terms, barely. His kids had a falling out with my kids when We first moved in here 15 years ago. He already has it fixed for racing with a 350 in it. Too bad its too far away from you. JB

I have a 78 Malibu 2 door out back.Landau top.
It's rough,no front cap,engine,trans.
I came to this forum to ask what is re-usable on it to keep, since I plan to scrap it soon.
It was a 267,auto.
When I got the car,it had a factory in dash am/fm/cb radio in it.I still have it stored in the shop.
Any suggestions?
Mike.

There are thousands of first class cars exactly like that one that are being junked simply because the frame from in front of the back wheel rearward is rotted out because of the "excellant" grade of metal used in the frames. If your frame is good you would not have any trouble selling it. JB

Any idea what the am/fm/cb is worth?
I may put the car on Craig's List and see what happens.
Along with a bunch of others I have-May be worth more than scrap @ $11.00 a hundred.
Thanks,Mike.

Have never seen a 2 door hardtop in the G body model Malibu. They are all 2 door sedan construction aren't they?

No they are all technically hardtops in 2 door. No window frame around the door, but they do have a post that goes all the way up to the roof at the B-pillar because they don't have roll down quarter windows. That may be the confusion. I guess it depends on your definition.

Thought maybe there was such an animal but fairly certain there was not.
Got an '80, actually my it's my son's. Know what a 2-door sedan & 2-door hartop is. Also, was behind getting this dedicated '78-83 Malibu forum going.
My '40 is a coupe, but technically a sedan, my '55 Nomad is a hardtop, my '70 velle is a hardtop, and my '71 camino is a pickup delivery (sedan). I suppose it's easy to get confused.

Ha!Ha!Ha!
I've always called the Nomads "Hardtops"!
And,I have a 67 ElCamino pick-up too!
As well as a 57 and 65 "Sport Sedan".(4 door hardtops)
Go figure.

It can get somewhat confusing. Coupes were short roof cars in 2 door form and sedans were long roof 2 and 4 doors. They were all sedans by later definition since they had window frames and full height b-pillars. When hardtops came along in the early 50s, things got a bit more confusing. All 2 doors were coupes, but they could be a hardtop or a sedan with the hardtop being a car with a b-pillar that only went to the belt line. Then the Nomad was introduced and was considered a hardtop body style since the doors didn't have window frames. To further add to the confusion, they called the 4 door hardtop a sport sedan.
Fast forward to the early 70s, GM introduced the "colonade" bodystyle to meet rollover standards and away went roll down quarter windows and a "true" hardtop body style. But the did have doors with no window frames.
