When I was a kid I swapped a 231 v6 in my Vega. In the future I would like to pick up another one and build a sporty econo car. I was thinking Quad 4, aluminum 5.3 or ?. Any ideas? The new Camaro get 28 mpg with 400 hp, I would like to find a setup that will get 40+.

I bought Hot Rod and Super Chevy this month. One of them has a Vega with a LS engine. Nice neat install.

I swapped a 455 Pontiac into my '76 Olds Starfire, the engine was almost a bolt in on the 231 mounts. The wrapped wire Pinto steering shaft was used to around the left side exhaust. Never saw another H-body with a Pontiac engine, although I know a few were done.

I just started another Vega. This one is getting a 96 Camaro 3800 Series II motor with a 4L60E transmission. Just want to make a nice, fun cruiser out of this one. 205hp should make it fun to drive and keep the weight down on the nose.It should also get pretty good mileage. This combo got upper 20s in the camaro and the Vega is probably 1200 pounds lighter.I also bought an S10 frame for the front spindles/brakes and rearend to swap into it.
