Hi all, I have a chance to get a 12 bolt housing from a guy. He says it measures 55 3/8" from backing plate to backing plate. Is this the correct width for a 68-72 rear? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Nick

Depending on how you measure it...'65-'67 chevelle is 54 1/2" and '68-'72 chevelle is 55 1/2" between backing plates.Add about 2 1/4" per side approx for brakes and drums and you get the overall measure.
