After 6 years of enjoying my '63, it's time to let it go, as I retired, and my hobbies have changed. I completed a 90% restoration! and have taken first place in several shows, but it's time to let some one else enjoy it and make it their own.
I just posted it in the for sale section at the beginning of this section for these years trucks. Good luck with your projects

I put my new tires and wheels on today. 255/60 up front and 275/60 out back. Got some bullet lug bolts and I think I am going capless. I think once I get the bed done it will be looking good.

Nice job Johnny, out at the island again I see! I thought you'd have cleared out that ol' "rustang" by now though. How's it coming with the fleet side bed?

One bed side is cut down and partially welded. The right side bed on my truck now is in really good shape.
After I get back from the Brothers Truck Show, I am going to have to get under the truck and change the rear mail seal. If I knew it was leaking I would have fixed it when it was on the engine stand.

Well my friend, you need to learn your "maizwels".
If you have the engine on the stand, maizwel change the pan gasket. And since we've opened her up, maizwel change the rear main seal!

Last week I finally swapped on some OEM used wiper arms I've had for ages...

The arms that were on there when I bought it are a little different, but I figured I'd wear the last set of blades out before I swapped 'em.

This set of arms seems a lot tighter against the glass... we shall see.

Also, the stop light switch at the top of the brake pedal was a little loose and one of the connecter plugs had come off a bit, so my tail lights would come on for a moment, then go out... consistently. Very odd. I wiggled the switch speed nuts back snug and took the wires on/off and it is good to go for now.

old trucks are fun.

My brother took the bed completely apart so that on Friday, if all goes well, the entire truck will be sand blasted using the dustless equipment (weather dependent)!

They will lay a tarp on the grass to catch any residue so the dogs, horses, cows, turkeys, deer or birds don't eat the paint particles.

Finally got off my butt and gutted the interior with help from my daughter. Contacted a local hotrod shop to have them fill a few holes in the firewall before we have them paint the engine bay.

Will probably have them patch the old Mr gasket 3 speed shifter location so we can mount in a lokar floor mount shifter....dang conversion to column auto shift ain't worth it....mebbe tho...

Today I changed the oil & filter... and lubed the front end.

Changed out the inline fuel filter I have as well... which wound up being the biggest pain. It seems the parts stores around me do not have those on the shelf anymore, you have to ask for them. Then the parts people want all these details... and I'm like : a metal inline fuel filter for a 3/8" fuel line...

I wasn't aware these were rare or uncommon.

The parts people were bringing out these monster diesel looking EFI fuel filters... it was starting to get comical, so I left.

Went to another store and started again... and luckily a manager was there and told 'em where to check, they brought out a few boxes and I was like : yeah, THAT one.

Then of course it didn't want to go back on, it leaked, cuz the fuel line cracked where the old one came off, so cut a chunk out and hook it back up.

Old trucks are fun.

Happy wrenching/truckin' folks,

-W

Installed some much needed upgrades on my '66! I fixed my carb problems with a new 650 cfm carb from Summit. Then I addressed the misaligned pulley and bracket issues by installing a serpentine system from March Performance. No more belt squeal!!!!
Then my son-in-law talked me into going with an electric cooling fan on the radiator. That got rid of the bulky heavy 'culvert' style OEM fan shroud and fan blade.

The before shot after pressure washing the engine compartment.

New carb fitted and installing the serpentine system.

Buttoned up and running! It's so quiet up front now - I can actually hear the Magnaflows purring again!

Some minor tuning, trans fluid, adjust the rear brakes and I'm ready to test drive! Oh yeah, I might want to put the hood back on too.

Well, I'll be starting over on my 66, and the 68 Imp SS. They were both submerged under 5 1/2 feet of water during a flood here in Oklahoma. Lost everything in my house and I don't know what all in the shop. I'm going to start clearing the shop out tomorrow and assess. Already have the house stripped to the studs, drying out.

Sorry to hear that. With all the flooding, we know lots of things will be lost. We were flooded in 86. Only about a foot and had a slab floor.

Yea, family, dogs, horses, and the devil cat are all OK. I've managed to salvage most of my shop equipment and power tools, cleaned the shop, and reorganized. Once I get my contractor lined out, I'm gonna pull the engine and trans out and clean out the water and silt.
