Looking at a duramax to buy and it is throwing this statement on the dash. Does any diesel guys out there know what this means?

That means you need to regen the particulate filter. Drive it for a few miles at above 2k rpms and it should go back to odometer setting. All ok. If the SES light is on it has been too long without a regen and will have to go to a dealer. Like the other answer, read the owners manual. It should have aot beter instructions than I gave

Thanks guys I was looking at the truck on the internet, thinking of buying it...it's been setting on a lot without being driven or the dealer doesnt know how to recycle the thing I suspect.

I think (something has been deleted) it means it needs a beating. You take it out on the highway and drive it hard. The particulate blows out. How this is enviromentally helpful i'm not quite sure but that's what they need. Unless your using the truck on a farm, or plowing a lot or the like, you'll never have to worry about it.

If you are referring to my use of the word delete, I meant exactly that. Remove the DPF. You will have better mileage and lower EGTs. Its illegal but some states are less strict than others.

i work on stuff like this. i would not recomend buying one for a daily driver.
