POSTING PHOTOS

If you're like me when I first started, you probably need a little stronger instructions to posting pictures than what is offered by well meaning members. Here's what I wish I had when I first started posting pictures on forums: "Posting Pictures for Dummies"

First:
IF YOU WANT TO POST YOUR OWN PERSONAL PICTURES FROM YOUR COMPUTER - 2 THINGS:

FOR NON-SUPPORTING MEMBERS: YOU NEED TO UPLOAD THEM TO AN ON-LINE PUCTURE ACCOUNT LIKE PHOTOBUCKET OR PICTURETRAIL BEFORE YOU CAN POST THEM ON THIS SITE.

FOR SUPPORTING MEMBERS: A BENEFIT YOU PAY FOR BY CONTRIBUTIONG TO THIS SITE IS THAT YOU CAN UP-LOAD PHOTOS DIRECTLY TO YOUR POST FROM YOUR COMPUTER WITHOUT USING A 3RD PARTY HOSTING SITE.

To post pics from your picture hosting account or from any picture on the web:

Step 1:
open a second browser window and navigate to the picture you want to include in your forum post. Using your mouse, right click over that picture, then left click "properties".

Step 2:
A box will pop up. highlight the whole address or U.R.L. to the picture as shown below and type CTRL/C at the same time to copy:

Step 3: Return to the open browser window where your CT post edit box is open and click on the "Image" button shown below:

Step 4: An editing box will pop up, paste the address there as shown. to paste address: click on the border of the edit box and type CTRL/V at the same time. Your picture's web address should appear in the box as shown below:

Step 4:Click OK or hit enter. Your picture with the proper display code should appear in your post edit box as shown below.

You can bypass the image button pop-up if you feel confident by simply pasting the picture URL directly onto your post editing box and type the code in the position as shown in the red out lines. [image] in the front of the address and [/image] at the end.

C:\Documents and Settings\ACE RTO\My Documents\My Pictures\Picture

Hilander:
The location of this picture is on your compuer and not on an internet server.

In order for you to be able to post this in our forum, you would need to either

A. create an account at a 3rd party picture hosting site such as picturetrail.com or webshots.com etc. then post the address from there as I have so carefully laid out in the previous steps, or

B. subscribe as a supporting member here so you would have the option to up-load your pictures from your personal computer directly to your post.

Hilander: this would work fine if the picture was on line and not on your "C" drive. you would also need to have a file extension such as ".jpg" at the end before the [/image] part

You've got the right idea as far as sintax goes i.e: [image][/image]

However, as I stated above unless you're a site contributor (at which ever level you chose to contrubute) you won't have the option to post pictures directly from your computer. (C:Documents and settings etc.)

Again, you'll need to use a 3rd party picture hosting site such as picturetrail or webshots, etc. to link from.

example::[image]http:// pic90.your favorite picture hosting site.com/your_pride_n_joy dot jay-pee-gee[/image]
note: the address always needs to end in an acceptable file extension such as .jpg (which I spelled out above in red) or .gif, .png, .pdf
