What am I supposed to torque down the pan bolts to on a TH400 and also what order? Also for the cooling lines on a 400. Which is the feed and which is the return? I think the return is the upper one... please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks in advance![This message has been edited by aomega13 (edited 10-11-2002).]

On any Auto trans I just tighten the pan bolts in a stagered pattern and just snugg um. Don't want to Dimpple the pan around the bolt hole or it'll leak like a sive.Go oer it a few times cause the first ones you tighten will be losser as you tighten more.

Hey there, According to my handy-dandy TH-400 repair manual, torque the pan bolts to 144 INCH-LBS. I have always installed the bolts starting with one on each side and then fill in by alternating sides.
