Hi, Just had a query here, I took this transmission out of a late 70's Nova and finally identified it as a Borg Warner T50. Its in good shape and I was wondering what it was worth in working condition. car had 87,000 miles on it and was not driven hard I intend to sell it for my uncle on Ebay but don't know what I should ask? any help would be appreciated. Thank You

I picked up a B/W T-50 for my 55 Chevy project quite a few years ago. I paid a hundred bucks for it at the time but I didn't know how well it worked. If you pulled it out of a Nova, I doubt it was stock. The cars that got them were usually Monza's and the Buick equvilent, the Skyhawk. It wouldn't surprise me if they did put a few of those trannie's in late 70's Nova's though. They won't take a lot of tourque though. About 300 max from the research I did a few years back. I opted for a different route. I don't think it will fetch much on ebay. Mine ended up in the metal recycle bin.

Sorry for this post that'll probably bring you down because the trans ain't worth much but welcome to CT anyways.

They put them behind V6's and 262/267's, semi rare, not real strong.

As I understand it was designed for the Cosworth Vega. World class tranny with roller bearings in the mainshaft gears. Had an odd shift pattern, first over and back toward driver. Used in:
Astre 76-77
Cosworth 76
Cutlass 76, 78-79
Lemans with 260 76
Monza 76-79
Omega 76 78-79
Skyhawk 76-79
Starfire 76-79
Sunbird 76-79
Vega 76-77
Ventura 76-77

Ratios:
First 3.4 : 1
Second 2.076 : 1
Third 1.39 : 1
Fourth 1.0
Fifth 0.80 : 1

I have one under the bench, too deep to drag out for a picture but I ran it in my Camaro a while and it's sure not suited for use behind a V8. The noise it makes in first - at half throttle - is scary.

I have one of these in my 76 Laguna and am looking for a spare. Anybody know where I can find one around Indianapolis, Indiana?
