I'm putting a LS3 into my '71 Monte. Plan on keeping the 350 trans. Don't want a computer controlled trans. Any reasons not to keep the 350 trans? Tks, ejw71

If you don’t want a computer controlled transmission, I would suggest you at least step up to a 700-R4 or 200-4R. You’ll get the benefit of overdrive and only need to hook up a switch to lock the converter in overdrive. There are several different ways to accomplish that. The only other thing you will need is to move the trans crossmember, hook up a throttle valve cable and shorten the driveshaft. The 700-R4 takes the same yoke as the TH350. Not sure about the 200. I have a 700-R4 in my ‘78 El Camino and I love it. I have 3.50:1 gears and a 29 inch tall rear tire and at 70 mph my rpm’s are just under 2,000.
