Anyone have some insight as to why the Corvair powerglide didn't have a park position?

This article suggests that because it was designed to work with a rear engine and shared some of the components, the PARK was not used as it was not a replica of the otherwise known Powerglide.

People fear change because it threatens what they know, or what they claim to know. |

After some searching found that 63 Lemans, with a modified version of Corvair transaxle, found a way to add Park position. Info on how it was done or how shifter worked is vague.
