I am restoring a 64 ss the tag says 938 paint
i look that up and it says something like emerigo white
but the car looks beige, I cant find a pure white color
can someone help me understand the difference between the 938 and 936
or if there was a pure white 64 ss, i really need some help thanks

Here is a scan of the 1964 Chevrolet PPG Paint Chip Sheet with codes and a detail of the codes / colors you mentioned. As far as white goes...Ermine White was it. Does this help?

well heck yes it helps. many thanks
i think code is 936 but paint looks light light yellow, it may be 938 but I know it is not that tan look.
This white does look white and I will probably go with that.
I had no idea the details or little things that would eat up my retirement fund on doing this project, but Im committed

thank you so much
