I picked up a Hurst competition plus shifter at a garage sale, the guy said he thought it was out of a Camaro. There are numbers on the shifter 662902
will these help me in any way?

Google search comes up empty. I doubt that the number you are giving is the part number. If so, who knows when it was produced?

People fear change because it threatens what they know, or what they claim to know.
