This car would moan, groan, crackle and pop whenever it was in a cloverleaf or making any kind of turn under power. I'm not talking about sliding the thing, just normal driving with today's traffic. The spring isolator pads, shackle and front eye bushings not only looked worn, they were worn.

This is what they looked like after being removed and replaced.

That source of noise and concern has been eliminated.

Getting it dialed in somewhat:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAhxZ19b2GU

In essence the Holley was way out of tune: power valve wrong (rating way too high), primary jetting way too fat, secondary metering plate has now been replaced for the metering block and fatter secondary jetting, timing at 15* initial, 21* full mechanical at 2700 and 19* total vacuum. All vacuum leaks tracked down and resolved, especially the power booster. The motor sings and with the rear suspension corrected I can feel comfortable putting my foot in it.

We made the decision not to pursue the 'correct' points distributor, even with a trigger upgrade and are in the process of installing an 8361 MSD pro billet, which just barely fits under the cowl induction air cleaner base.

The 3.73 gear set and the 2.20 low make feathering a necessity. The rear is noisy and will be addressed once the new M22 is in. We will have a 4.10 speedo gear installed in the new trans and will go with that gear at rebuild time.

We'll keep plugging away at remedying all the little stuff not addressed by the PO. All it takes is time and money.
