Looking to buy a new Battery Booster. Gooloo looks good, but I see they make different versions of the 4000. Trying to decide which one.
Basically need it to start V-8 Gas engines and similar.
Also looked at the Hulkman 8.5.
Any recommendations welcome.
Thanks

A small Audew has lasted me two years. It was a backup to my BMW X5 3.0i for over a year. It took me that long to find a battery drain on it. Now, it's used as backup booster. My next upgrade will be a NOCOboost HD for V8 engines. NOCO seems to have a good reputation. If you go big on amps, either one of those brands will be useful.
Hard to beat a lifetime warranty on one too.

I've also noticed the NOCO as one of the better ones. Thanks

I've had a GB-70 model by NOCO for a couple of years and it is great. I carry it around in my car and only have had to use it a few times. It keeps a charge for nearly a year. Sure beats jumper cables!

Which one has a lifetime warranty? I looked up the NOCO HD on Amazon, and it had a one year warranty.

I'm 80 so I don't pay much attention to lifetime warranties anymore.

I got mine from GMC Accessories, its a NOCO. I had some GMC rewards that lowerer the price a lot.
Here's an image of one, not necessarily the one I purchased.

Does anyone know if these devices can be used to power a 12V appliance like a drill or light? I've only used mine for a battery booster and to charge my phone. You would think you could you could use it to power something but I don't know how to do that.

dgstarr,
Hammacher Schlemmer has lifetime guarantee of satisfaction. I'm not sure how it applies to a limited time battery. I've returned a few broken items from them. Each time a replacement has been sent.
GreatNorthWoods,
The battery packs give full power for a set amount of time. They can run for a while but it will get very hot. The lithium batteries are designed to hold charge for a long time instead of sustained use. Other battery makers do make 18V to 120V converters. I used one as a temporary battery charger. I would take a 18V Ryobi battery and run it through the 120V converter. It worked great when I could not plug in a regular battery charger. I could charge a 12V battery enough with a 18V 9ah battery to start my BMW. The converter would probably run a small amp device for a short period.

So, there is no way to hook up the device for temporary or sustained use without a converter of some type?

As far as I know, yes. You need a converter. Power packs are now available. One or multiple 18V/20V batteries use a converter to run 110V items.
Here is my 18V to 110V inverter. It can run a 4 amp battery tender charger for about 45 minutes. It was enough to start my X5 a few times.
Here's an example of a low amp inverter for sustained use.
What type of tool do you want to power temporarily?

Whenever I have called AAA for a 'jump', the driver always had the same device; one of these:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-1400-Peak-Am p-P...
I liked it and bought one. I admit I use the compressor more often than the 'jumper'. But the few times I jumped my '63 with it, it worked just fine.
It also has a couple of USB ports so one could charge their phone in a 'no power' pinch.
Just some thing I liked.

My son had a Gooloo and worked well for him. Another buddy carries one for his snowmobile trips. Can't recall the name, but the compact size, and ability to work in cold sure helps out.

Actually I wanted to use it to test antique ahooga horns. I rebuild them. Currently using a battery charger.

Oh cool. I think it would work. You turn it on and use it. Most have a turn off feature at 3 minutes. Plus it's portable. I've used a larger booster with a compressor to test electric fans.

Would not something like these:

...better suit your chore? I do not know how many amps you need for the horn, but it can't be a lot. 10 maybe?
Just a suggestion.

I like the portable part since I have to plug in my battery charger each time I test a horn. I don't think my NOCO has a "turn off in 3 minutes" feature or I don't know how to use it.

Interesting that the 12V or power side does not timeout. NOCO states it can a run a small coffee pot. Even a 12V air compressor.
My autel does go to sleep after a few minutes. The NOCO are really nice. I'll probably upgrade to one once my Autel is toast.
