The pitman arm used on 62 cars and 63-67 cars with power steering is different than the one used on 63-66 non-P/S cars. What is the difference?? (Hopefully one can distinguish them at a glance.) I am adding P/S to my 64 and need to find the correct pitman arm.
Thanks,
John

I don't know whether there's a visually noticeable difference but I've attached the parts listing with P#s. Note also the center link (Drag Link or Relay Rod as GM called it) are different as well for those years. Hopefully you can find what you need based on casting or part#. When converting my '65 Impala I had a similar issue and was able to find the correct NOS arm on eBay. P/S arm for mine was about 1/4" longer than the non P/S one....without having them side by side I doubt one would have been able to tell the difference.

Steve,
Thanks very much for the info. I have all the P/S parts except the Pitman arm. But now I don't know if I have a 62 or 63-7 P/S relay rod. I hadn't checked my parts books on that item so didn't realize they were different. Glad you brought it to my attention.
John

Glad I could help John. Assumed you had the original non P/S set up, and the drag link (the term as I learned it) was an afterthought.
