I had an issue with the battery draining out after a few drives. It was only running at 12.26 volts...so assuming it was the old wiring which was cracked and looked charred, I rebuilt the start /charge circuit wiring. I re routed battery ground from alternator mount to rear of block (where sheet metal ground and block to frame ground is connected0. I was happy it immediately fired up better and tested running at 14.46v...
One day later it stalls at a red light, I restart with no issue and baby it home just to be safe. Battery again tests just above 12, drops to 11.02 with wipers and lights on.
Now it won't start, smells to be flooding. I'm assuming Distributor?? could the new wiring have caused it?

Any thoughts are helpful, thanks.

Check the distributor for 12 volts. It seems something is draining the battery. At 14.46, the alternator is working. Is the reading off the battery/alternator cable? Are any aftermarket electrical components added? Wipers have constant power. Check the connections. You can never have enough grounds. Battery to frame. Battery to engine. Engine to cab and frame are my on my truck.

I educated myself on HEI, so I got a buddy gonna swing by and help me crank it while i check voltage and spark. hoping it's that easy. Thanks for the response!

I keep this ignition tester in my ODBII scanner bag. The connector works great on old engines. I've even used it on lawnmowers and small engines. For newer models, I use a Power Probe IV or voltmeter at the coil pack. If it lights up, I know the electrical system is good.

Update:
1. tested battery, good, then charged it fully
2. tested voltage into the distributor, 12.34
3. tested ohms at coil, 0.6
4. pulled no.1 and 2 plugs, they were charred pretty good, but had spark.
5. replaced all plugs, firied up no problem.

Now i have it throwing me a code 34 suddenly...
I'm stumped.
