Recently purchased Fenton headers for 1954 235. There seems to be some "fitting" as the tube for cylinder #1 and #6 partially covers the bolt holes used for mounting the header and intake manifold. I've been told from the retailer that there might be some "grinding" required. This may be true, however before I start removing material from these headers, I want to be sure this is true. There photos of the conditions referred to that can be attached/sent if requested. Any input is appreciated.

I have seen HEAVLY heated exhaust manifolds warp but new doesn't fit??? I would worry that once you can get the manifold to fit the bolts than the ports maybe miss aligned. Sorry this should be a straight slap on and go make good sounds.

What the seller is telling you is that their manufacturing is unreliable and you pay top dollar for parts that don't fit.
If the bolt holes do not line up, return the item and/or file a dispute with your credit card carrier.
People fear change because it threatens what they know, or what they claim to know. |
