Hello, Has anyone put a 83 steering column into a 84 Camaro ... as the wires are not colored the same and the connector although fits together nicely has wires in a different order. I can't get my wiper to work correctly , just low speed w/o pulse or high speed... need to know which wire from the car harness goes to which wire in the column harness... thanks Doug

Wow, you have a lot going on there. I need info as I have an 84 GM workshop manual.
First, what you have now, is it "Tilt" (N33), "Intermittent / Pulse" (CD4) ?

The type of column changes the part, but here's the rub. 82-83 is the range of use for the column switch. The handle is 80-83.
With this being said, 84 up is different as you found out.

84 with INT / TILT has PNK, WHT, PPL, GRN, GRY
83 and down has PNK, BLK, PPL, GRN, GRY

Same number of wires, but perhaps in different cavity of connector, also, cruse control and other things, like the washer pump cover w/pulse changes. Pre 1983, ground inputs where used for cruise, then 1984 used B+ input signals.

Many things maybe able to change on your column from 84 to 83 and it you have the old column, I would investigate the ability to switch over the OEM parts. I don't have an 83 GM workshop manual, so I have nothing to compare to the 84 book as the same is used on Monte Carlo, El Camino, Etc.

This was a bad year for switching out this part, but if you wanted a certain look or add tilt is you did not have tilt, you will have to find someone with both schematics.

I have 84 and up only, but will look for one older.
Do not waist your money on Hanes or Chilton service books as they don't give much for schematics, only diagnostics...and that's iffy!
