Old posts on/before 2015 say tubes of all copper & brass heater core brands not correctly located so better to recore the heater tank. No later posts. Still true today? If not, which fits best?

    In response to Stephen S

When I replaced mine with an aluminum repop a few years ago (maybe several now) the repop was a little thicker through the core requiring me to fab new hold down straps. The inlet and outlet only required minor and careful adjustment.

Sorry that's no help to your actual question but I did get it to work for far less than a re-core which is particularly expensive in my area for some reason.
