Can anyone tell me what color the shock absorbers would have been from the factory. I got a new pair of spiral shocke for the front and back of my 61 Impala and would like to paint them the correct color before I put them on.

factory shocks were black in 1961, I think they were semigloss. Dealer replacement shocks may have been gray.
