Hello, I've been a reader for a few years and usually find an answer in your forums. I have a 2002 Chevy Express 2500 passenger van. My front seats are loosing their firmness and I found a pair from a 2014 Express 2500. It has the air bags and a different electrical connector plug. I believe mine only has the seat belt connected or not sensor. Do I need to remove the air bags or can they be left in place? What do I do about the electrical connector not being the same? Thanks for your help and fantastic site?

You can leave the air bags. They should have their own electrical connection and cannot go off unless connected to a power source. The plugs are yellow for air bags. As far as the electrical connection for the seat itself being different than the one in your van, you can get a wiring diagram for both vans to see what each wire does. If the new seat has wires that all correspond to the wires in your van you can remove the wires from the plug in your van and the wires from the plug on the newer seat and put the new seat wires into the correct locations on your plug. But the wire ends have to be the same and the new seat has to have exactly the same wires for the same purpose as the old seat to be correct.

Alternately you can disassemble both seats and transfer the wiring harness and sensors from your old seat to the new one.
