I'm looking for a realiable single din radio. Blue tooth is a must. Tennessee just changed law no cell phones while driving. Gps would be nice. Cd would be nice also but not mandatory. I've looked a quite a few and none seem to have really good reviews.
the ones with flip out screen would be nice but what I am mainly after is a radio that is reliable with bluetooth. What did you guys and gals get.

I have had very good luck with Kenwood/JVC but Alpine and Pioneer are very good units to
I would avoid built in GPS units since you pay $$$$ for them, get one that supports android auto and or apple carplay, your phone provides the GPS info to the radio
Crutchfield is real good on prices and installation parts
You need the install bracket, wiring harness, antenna adapter and steering wheel interface if req
I would also price out amazon once you get part numbers

I was hoping to here from someone who bought a radio and everything works as it should. I no longer trust amazon as i have returned a lot of things that where junk. A paticular unit whith a model number so i don't order another piece of junk that i will have to install then take back out because of any number of issues. any info would be appreciated.

If you dont receive an answer, from someone who has done this swap, you really should at least talk to Crutchfield. They have a chat function, on their website, and can get you headed in the right direction.

I've had two newer Pioneers and a .. JVC? I haven't driven that one in a while (now in 88 G20). All had USB ports. Some came with Bluetooth. The only reason I even bought the latest one is I wanted the double DIN just so the controls would be a little easier and it would fill the hole fully. I also wanted customizable colors.

All have been reliable, but I don't use the Bluetooth so I can't speak to that. I think all three were $80 or so each on Amazon, but I used points on them so they didn't cost me much.

One thing I did learn is on these Express vans like I have the opening in the dash face is like 1 1/2 DIN through 99 or 00 and full double DIN after. My 2500 it was cracked on and I didn't realize until after I bought one from a 97 that they were different. For those years you need a single DIN, or a newer snap in dash face.

The one thing I liked with the JVC is when playing from a thumb drive it would give the song title and artist once when it started playing. If the Pioneer can do it, I'm not sure how to set it, I have to click through the display options to have it show then click back to clock.

Also, they can overpower the stock speakers. Seemed to blow out a set of rears entirely in the 3500 van. 2500 they work but I should put better ones in.

As far as model numbers, they update these fairly regularly so the one in my 3500 is already obsolete, and the one I got for the 2500 was one of the last of that type anyone had.

I would just go by the reviews and if you choose a non-Amazon vendor the shipping is much faster.

Also, on a first time install I'd suggest using an adapter harness plug, don't do what I did and swap a couple of wires and have the dash lights glow when the radio was on.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, criticize it on the internet.

& yes, I once tried a frame swap on a 51 Chevy.
