The carb kits are pretty much universal for all Rochester 1 barrels (B manual choke, BC automatic choke, etc). The only main difference in my experience at least, is the accelerator pump. There is one type that has a c-clip at the top of a round rod and one where the rod flattens out with a slot in it. If you make sure your kit has the right pump, you should be golden.
And I would order everything from Mike's Carburetors as not only is he the Rochester expert but his kits are also good for that crappy ethanol fuel.

7003536 is a bowl casting number, pretty much worthless for carburetor identification. It cannot be used to purchase a rebuilding kit.
I know it was used on some of the early 1950's carbs.
My Rochester type B literature is really not overly complete, as for Chevrolet, I happen to believe in the ABC's of carburetion (A)lways (B)uy (C)arter
The newest carb I show using this casting is 1954, but again, my Rochester B data is not really complete.
As for the kits for the B's being universal??? We offer more than 60 DIFFERENT kits for the various Rochester B carburetors.
I have two suggestions:
(1) Forget the Rochester, and install a Carter type YF. For 1957 235 A/T the number is 3211s. For 1957 S/T (manual choke) the number is 2100s.
(2) Find a TAGGED Rochester (no, I do NOT have one, I thankfully finally got rid of all of my Rochester B's) correct for your engine. The number for an automatic transmission is 7009656, and for a standard transmission 7009657.
Once you have a known carburetor, you can then acquire the correct rebuilding kit, with correct parts; as well as know the calibration is correct for your engine.

Good carburetion is fuelish hot air!
The most expensive carburetor you will ever buy.....is the incorrect one you attempt to modify!

I have probably rebuilt a dozen or more of these things over the past 40 years and yes, the carb kits I found covered most models as they are very similar (definitely not 60 different types or need for that many nuanced kits).
If it were me I would spend a couple hours rebuilding the Rochester rather than days of researching and possible re-engineering the throttle linkage, fuel inlet, choke tube, possibly jetting and air filter to fit something not designed for the car. The Rochester is a decent carb once it is dialled in.

Calibration parts???
Vacuum springs, power valves, jets???
All of the above are in the better kits, requiring more diversity.

Agree with everyone else. It is a simple carburetor and a rebuild kit will solve your issues.
Close is good enough when it comes to numbers. They were all very similar.
Pay attention to the gaskets if multiple ones are included.
People fear change because it threatens what they know, or what they claim to know. |

Jon,
one thing I hate about internet forums is when a poster asks a simple question like "where can I get a carb kit" and ANYTHING but the answer comes back.
That having been said, I myself followed your advice on a Carer YF and, after adjusting the fuel inlet, making a new choke tube, putting a stronger spring on the the trottle linkage and checking that the air filter still fits properly (as I said would be needed), I AM AMAZED what a difference this carburetor makes! Mine was a NOS 3211S but stored damp so I took it all the way down and rebuilt, replated everything and wow. The car starts easier, runs smoother, accelerates more aggressively, wow. So my apollogies and appreciation for your expertise. 200,000 miles on various Rochester Bs ... I wonder what they would have been like with this carb.
