Any tricks to keep it cool? All was good untill temp hit 96.
Wqs wondering if some of you good folks might have an idea.If not, thats cool...Just thought I'd see.

Do you have a fan shroud? If not, it is the number one part to add. Cars have had shrouds since the later 1950s. The above assumes a proper 7-blade pump driven fan. No electrical fans are needed.

Is it heating up on the highway or in-town driving? How hot? What fan do you have? What radiator? How far is the fan from the radiator? Shroud?

I wonder if T57 is using electric fan?
I wonder 1 fan or 2 fans?
I played the overheating game for a while,
wasted time and money then finally cured the issue,
overheating is the least of my worries now,
I finally bought the electric fans from LLeh,
now I have more time to worrying about people running into me while cruising.

Hi all, sorry I've been away. A couple hospital stays set me back a bit... Okay, radiator, 2 14" electric puller fans with tight shroud, all are from Auto-rad.
Thermostat was a 180 deg. car would get as high as 225 deg after about 50 min. around town. I put a 160 deg stat in and it's better, but still gets to about 200 deg after about an hour or so just around town. I get that 200 is pretty hot but, doable. Thing is, it's around 78-80 deg outside. Wondering what will happen when it gets to the 90's. Oh yea,I should mention it has Vintage air.
Again, sorry for the hiatus, couldn't do much about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.....Tom...

With what you seem to have, the engine is entirely reliant on the electrical fans to provide air for the heat exchange (from coolant to air within the radiator) needed to keep the coolant at the proper temp.
Question: Do you have a radiator? It is really hard to see one.
Fans need to start at the 'high' temp and run until the 'low' temp is reached. My opinion? 'High' is about 115% of the thermostat rating. 'Low' is about 90% of thermostat rating.
And you will need enough CFM to do the job. I can't help with that number. I've never used electric fans on engines designed for mechanical ones . Such engines allowed enough air flow through the radiator (the heat exchanger) at forward moving speed to maintain the coolant temp at the thermostat rating with very little variation. The fan on those systems mainly were installed to assist in 'traffic/idle' modes of operation.

With a fan set up and radiator to fit that core support, you don't have a radiator/air flow problem, IF, the fans are turning the right direction. I have a similar size, cross flow, with 2 smaller fans than that and it runs at 180 degrees with A/C on in 110 degree Texas heat, all the time.
I would look at engine problems such as mixture, timing, clogged coolant passages, collapsing lower hose, restricted exhaust.

Thanks, Pete, and Don.
I'll try to get better pix, and more accurate info. FYI, It does have two stats, one low temp, one, high temp. Don't know the degree's right now.
Again, Thanks!....Tom...

If I may hi-jack this thread for a moment. How does one check for clogged coolant passages, collapsing lower hose and restricted exhaust?
