I have a 39 Chevy Master Deluxe 85. I got the car not long ago. The engine is a 216. Trying to figure if it's the orginal engine. The serial on the pad by the distributor LAS47924. Thanks for all your help.

Here are a few numbers I found that someone that be able to tell me 216 or 235.
Found this behind the starter (Con 1 F13.
Side of the head B55848850.
Top of the head 3836848 gm-25.
I tried to add pictures but couldn't figure out how.
But I have tried other forums. But couldn't find information on the year of engine size or what year the engine was made.
I was told by the previous owner it was the orginal motor. He was the second owner. Thanks for any ones help and to tell me more information.

My '39 Chevy had no engine when I bought it, and no VIN tag either. It did come with a clear title, so I knew the VIN number. But the VIN number didn't give me any clue to where my '39 was built, and I've not been able to determine that. My VIN is 21635XX, and sites I checked don't give any info to assist in where it was built. Only thing I did possibly find is the "21" at the beginning being maybe the Wisconsin Chevrolet plant?

The VIN was called Serial number back then. But it should have 2 letters in the front of the number.
Looks like the 39 should be JA or JB.
Where did the VIN number come from?

It came off my title exactly as I posted it. No alphabetical letters. The VIN tag does say "Master Deluxe" in a box just above the VIN numbers.
It looks very much like this style repro tag:
