I prefer to go local as possible. I tend to go with a mom and pop outfit the Filling Station in the northwest. I been to their brick and mortar in the middle of Oregon and is a really cool store that I have gotten parts for an array of my classics, including my 63. Their call center is in their store, and they are generally pretty knowledgeable.
However, knowing the quality of what you need will always factor into the decision of sourcing the part. Global West makes awesome suspension alternatives if going street custom. American Auto Wire is the standard upgrade if rewiring the whole vehicle in my opinion. Can't go wrong with OER items if through them or Classic Industries. Steel Rubber or Precision make good seals, however the re-pop window seal kit is good too. ABS Power Brake in California has tons of brake options for impalas.
Sometimes the crappy thing with the box places is it is not entirely clearly described what you are getting.
Congratulations on finding this forum. There is alot of knowledge here.
