Latest update. I was able to complete the removal of both cushions. The drivers side had rusted thru and was in 3 pieces. Passenger side severely rusted but still intact. Process was, unload the torsion bars, drill/grind out the cushion rivets. The cross member was free to move left and right so I had access to the cushions. I put under-lift stands under the front axle and the cross member. Now for the cleaning and painting and then reinstall. Wasnt an extremely difficult job once I figured out the safest way to handle the job.
Dont see how it could be accomplished without unloading/moving the torsion bars. Anyway, mostly done for now, hope the cushions dont rust like the original ones. Here is a pic of the cushions, for reference.
