The LSX block can do 454 cu-in. This is a completely different engine that never came in the car so it will require more effort to get it installed. Typically LS engines are fuel injected, but you can put a distributor on the front of one and use a carb if you really wanted to.

There are Dart blocks that can be used to build 427 cu-in small blocks. This size small block pretty much requires all aftermarket parts or else you're just limiting the power and wasting the displacement. 600 very streetable hp is easily possible in a build like this.

But, I think you are looking for a big block, which neither of those are. Finding a 454 and making it look like a 427 might be the cheapest path to a big block.
