I want to get a little better Air Conditioning performance out of my rig and I have heard of people putting a shutoff valve on the heater hose that comes off the intake manifold to then connects to the inlet of the heater core.

My question is: Will it starve some other place coolant that needs it?

I was wondering if I should devise some method of bypassing the heater core that I can switch on and off or just install a shutoff.
