Looking for any help with what is causing a springing sound coming from my drivers side hood hinge. It is an original hood hinge and its been cleaned up and painted. Its been working fine for the past 5 years, but now it makes a really loud sound when opening, closing is fine and it stays up like it should.. I couldn’t find anything on the internet about sounds coming from there so any help is welcome. Thanks I’m advance.

You can always try some white lithium grease. It doesn’t look great after it’s applied but works more often than not.

HD spray silicone also might work, however, it is most likely that the hinge pins (rivets) are worn, and the hinges need to be rebuilt.

Thanks for the replies. I sprayed some lithium grease on all the hinges parts and now if I open it slowly it seems to be fine. I have another set in my storage and I’ll get them sent out to get rebuilt. Hopefully these hold up till then.
