After changing cam & lifters 25,000 miles ago, the lower intake manifold is leaking antifreeze. What is the best or correct sealant to use on the bolts that go through to water jackets? Also the best to use on the gaskets & around water jackets on a 2000 454 or 7.4 l? I’ve seen a man on YouTube rebuilding 454 & using a white sealant from GM. Don’t know the name of the sealant but looked like it might work? Really don’t like having to go back and reseal lower intake due to wrong sealant or my mistake. Wouldn’t be to bad if there was more room to work in.

That sealant is a Teflon based product, I was a GM parts guy,and we always used it in the shop.

Thank you. I’ll ask the parts man if they have any in stock. The permatex white stuff didn’t hold up long.

I don't believe the lower intake bolts go into the waterjackets. The GM manual gives a part number, and when I looked it up years ago, I was reading that it was blue Loctite..... a thread locker, not a sealant.

My intake didn't take long to leak after paying to have it done, either..... the mechanic used some sort of black goop, and I found the bolt on the front corner backing out. I still haven't fixed it myself, as it mostly leaks to the outside, and I've either been short on time, money, workspace, or needed to drive it.
