Speedo jumping around so tried to pull cable out from tranny to lube. Wont let go from the head in car. Dont want to brake something. Any tips to get it loose? On 55 chevy car. Thanks

I'm pretty sure it has to come out from the speedometer end.

Will the speedometer head come out of the dash relatively easy? If so, once the speedo cable is detached from the transmission, why not remove the speedo unit and attached cable out of the car? Then you could work on it from the bench.
