G'day, I have a chev 305 with conventional points, new points, rotor, cap, wires, condensor, ballast resistor, plugs and coil. The motor will not start. Spark tester on plug wire and coil wire both give spark at 4 on tester. Ignition on, spark at points when using screwdriver to open. By passed the ignition switch using wire coil plus to bat. No success. Points set properly, distributor in good condition, no play at points. Timing set correctly and plug wires in correct order. Since I have spark and it is definitely NOT a fuel issue what can be wrong??? Thanks in advance for any ideas as I am lost at this point. Mike |

Welcome to CT. Do you have a strong blue spark at say a 1/8 gap at the plug wire? Check your coil resistances per specs. If good, try another condenser. Did it run before this was done? |

Why do you say not a fuel issue? Did you put gas down the carb? |
