Anyone run a 15x8 rally with a 4.25" backspace and at 255/60 r15 wheel tire combo on all 4?

Looking at these-

and these tires

Looks like there are 15x8 rally wheels with either a 4.25" backspace or 4" backspace.

Which would be better? Does .25" matter

4.25" with that tire wouldn't work on my 65. It might on your 66. I'd stay away from a 8" wheel with 4" BS.

Best would be to measure - if you have or can borrow a known wheel and tire size then you can compare it based on what measurements change between it and the wheel you want to run.

So I bought 2 of the Steel 15x8 wheels (paint them later) and a Milestar Streetsteel ($102 shipped) 245-60R15 tire.

Had it mounted and I bolted it on to check fitment to see if I want them on all 4 corners.. not sure I want staggered

then had them painted

It's about 26" tall and about 9.5" wide. No issues fitting on my 66 Impala but I may want a tire that's a little wider.

other brand 255/60s have around the same spec...

I wonder if this will fit in the front?

I ended up with 15x8 (4.25"bs) on all 4 with a MILESTAR STREETSTEEL P245/60R15 tire,at $102 each.

I know they are not BFGs or Coopers, but for the price I thought I try them out. I like the look of the tread pattern.

10mm spacers were used in front.

Thanks Ted,

I have a set of 4 series 62 15x8 4.25.
Might go with a 7" on the front though.

I actually like the look of the tread on those better than the Cobra's.

What upper a-arms? Many of them move the upper ball joint backwards which would increase the clearance at the front fender extension.

I am using the Ebay $250 knock off tubular Impala A arms. I replaced the ball joints with MOOGs, upper and lower.

From what I hear are the same a CPP ones...

+5 degrees caster, 0-1 Positive camber , Toe-in 1/4 total
Caster built into them

Moog parts(still US made, so it said on box) - @rockauto
MOOG K6035 - lower $30
MOOG K6034 - upper $36

Well, those will certainly help with the fender clearance at the front. It'd be a lot tighter with the stock arms.
