Have to replace the fuel pump in my friends 2001 s-10 crew cab. He brought me an Airtex e3952m. I checked at the Airtex website and that is the correct pump.
Tank is out of the truck and cleaned up ( as best as is possible) but pump wont seat in the opening. Dont want to just beat it in there. O ring was greased. Pump assy compresses far enough, its just that the top of the assy wont seat Any suggestions? Anyone have this problem?
Have to get this lump of my lift!

Problem solved. There is clean and really clean. Spent more time removing rust from pump mounting hole, some silicone grease and a helper. Pump is in.

Yea. Had that problem plenty of times. Rust and dirt build up. Did y’all take any pics? The large o ring can be hard to compress.

How does it run?

No pics, probably just boring rust stuff. Good pressure, 60 with the key on, 50 and holding with the key off. Had the lights turned down in the garage and noticed a small spark jumping from the cnter of the coil to the tower. That is the next fix. Even with the defective coil, it runs pretty well.135000 and most of the parts are original so he cant complain.
