Greetings,
Where can I buy a replacement temperature sending unit for a 55. I'm considering upgrading to the electronic type for 56 but would like to know where I can get a stock replacement as well.

Thanks
Tom

55 has a mechanical temp gauge and the sender is part of the gauge with a sealed capillary tube connecting them. Can't replace just the sender. The vendors have reproductions.

The electric 56 gauge fits the cluster and you need a 56 sender that is a one year only sender. No other sender will work right.

If you have a stock 55 intake manifold there is no provision for the 56 temp sending unit. The 55 sender is a smaller thread at the back of the intake manifold whereas the 56 and later sending unit is a larger pipe thread hole up front on the water cross over.
