Just bought a new 18 Cargo van. i want to wax it before it needs it to hopefully stop the poor GM paint from peeling from this van in a few years. About 75% of the chevy vans in Calif peel on the rear doors & hood. Is there a wax that is better for durability. This is a work van so I don't care about shine quality.

White paint, yes?

I don't think wax is going to prevent the paint from peeling. But it can't hurt.

I believe the problem has more to do with poor adhesion than the elements.

while I totally agree I thought I would give it a try. I don't think most cargo vans are kept nice due to the fact most are owned by contractors and they are busy or just feel the trucks will take a beating anyway. I just got rid of a 86 with paint peeling problems from the get go. had 416k on the clock. Paint sucked but mechanically was very good. Same trans for the total time. Never waxed the van but it started every time.

I USE TURTLE WAX "ICE" ON EVERYTHING,IT COMES IN PASTE,LIQUID & SPRAY. THE NICE THING ITS SYNTHETIC & I CAN APPLY IT IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT & RIGHT OVER ANY BLACK TRIM ETC.U DO HAVE TO USE A MICRO FIBER CLOTH TO REMOVE IT,ANY OTHER WONT WORK.I KEEP A SPRAY BOTTLE OF DETAILER IN THE CAR TO REMOVE BIRD CRAP ETC.IM GONA USE THE ICE LIQUID CLAY ON THE 93 THIS SUMMER,USED IT ON MY OTHER RIDES B4,THEN ICE IT.

Late reply. Thanks. I've got 4 vehicles and don't have time for paste but the spray would be faster and work. I had a camper for my truck and each time we went out I would go over it with a furniture spray polish. Didn't last long but only took minutes to do the job.

My favorite over the years has been Meguiar's Hi-Tech Yellow Wax #26. It's a high-quality carnauba wax that really shines.

Seems like everyone has their favorite. I did try the ice and was not impressed. The original paint unwaxed seemed smoother so I did not do all the panels on my van. Two weeks later I washed the van and you could really see where the ice was put on and where is wasn't. Don't know the durability yet but like the others mentioned it was fast and easy. Thanks. again. It now has two coats so we will see.
