![]() At nine years old and 130,000 miles, our 2001 Tahoe is getting to the point where I'm having to do more than just basic maintenance to it. Where's the best place to obtain a factory service manual it? Haynes/Chiltons need not apply.

You can either buy a printed ser or there are vendors that sell dvd's of the full anuals with tech bulletins included on Ebay. If you plan on keeping the truck a long time they will def save you some cash in the long run.

I saw those eBay DVD's. It sounds great to be able to search, cross-reference, and print the desired pages from the manual. Do those DVD's actually work as advertised? I'm always a little nervous about buying something like that off eBay. I have a 4"-thick printed service manual for my Jeep, which is handy, but sometimes difficult to remember the right name for something when hunting for it in the index. A digital copy would alleviate that problem. HelmInc is the cheapest source for printed manuals that I've found yet, at $135 vs $160.

I had the dvd version for my 97 jimmy. I wont buy another. It worked fine but I just like the book better. You can lay it on the fender and a little grease/dirt wont hurt a thing. Ive had a lot of luck buying the manuals off ebay. I check helm for pricing and use that for a bidding guideline.

I think most if not all of those dvd's selling are all pirated copies made from the manuals, so its like buying stolen property. I would hate to be lucky enough to buy one and then find out they are coming after you for buying illegal copies of copyrighted material. Before GM went into bankruptcy they were actively going after those who were doing this on the web.

![]() I just received the service manuals that I bought from Alan Hale (alanco). They're in excellent shape, and the transaction went wonderfully. If any of you ever have the opportunity to buy from or sell to him, I'll give him two thumbs up.
