I've been getting this error occasionally on my radio. What does it mean?

Some 04/05 Malibu, Maxx and 05 G6 equipped with XM radio customers will report that IMMEDIATELY after turning on vehicle ignition they receive a CHECK DAB message displayed on radio or that a radio changed to AM band when they had left it on an XM band the previous ignition cycle (and for 2004 Malibu/Maxx the same key fob being used).

New calibration available to correct. If not happening as described above, calibration does not apply and may need further diagnostic.

New calibration only available if you have CD Changer Radio, if not they have to replace radio.

Thats my problem! Intermittently, but immediately after starting the car I get the Check DAB message. I don't have the CD Changer, so they're going to have to replace it I guess.

That's what you get for not checking your DAB once in a while.

Shoot, I can't find anywhere in the manual on how to check it! Is there a dipstick to pull out in the center console?

No, no, no, it's one of those sealed DABs; there's no dipstick. You'll need to change the DAB fluid every 50,000 miles if your DAB is used under any of these conditions, otherwise your DAB fluid will not need changing:
- Long trips where loud volume is necessary to drown out a child's complaints
- Prolonged exposure to talk radio
- Excessive use of the XM

And if you do have to change it, just remember, you can't mix the green DAB with the orange DAB or it turns to gel and clogs the whole thing up.
