2003 Silverado base model. Recently, when trying to use the left turn signal, the hazard lights come on instead. It doesn't do it all the time, and I can't seem to find a pattern. When it does do it, I can depress the hazard light button a few times quickly, then the signal will work fine. Tried to take it to the dealership, but they could not duplicate. Any others have similar problems or any ideas what to look for. About out of warranty, and would like to get it fixed before I have to pay for it. Thanks in advance.

Could be a loose ground. But it may also be a bad multifunction switch. Also start the truck and walk around looking for strange behavior from the turn signals. My wifes Trailblazer had a plug left loose when the socket boards were replaced that caused the turn signal to stop flashing with the brakes applied. Without the brakes, it would alternate flash the turn and brake bulbs. With the ignition off, it worked as normal. Hope this helps.

I had that same problem with my 03 silverado. It happened a few weeks ago when it was really cold. I took it that following monday, but by then it quit doing it. dealer couldn't find anything wrong. Haven't had the problem since, but I am still kinda worried about it.

Mine seems to be linked to moisture, at least somewhat. We have had lots of rain here lately, and it seems to do it more when it is wet than it does on the dry days. I have also noticed that if I hit the signal lever quick and hard enough that it goes all the way down, it doesn't seem to do it (as opposed to just holding it in the flash to pass position).

Guess maybe I should just give up and be like every other New Mexican - turn signal, what's that? The only things you have to have functional in a vehicle here are the brakes (at least sort of) and the boom-boom stereo. Wheels that cost more than the car is worth are also highly recommended along with at least sort of functional hydraulics.

Thanks ChrisG, sounds like just the ticket. Does anyone know if there is any more information available on this bulletin? The dealership said they did a TSB search and didn't come up with anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They didn't look close enough then, though it's not a TSB, it's what we call a "PI" (preliminary information). The number is PI01946A.

Basically, replace the hazard lamp flasher - P/N 15764135.

kinda off the subject a little, but is it one flasher for both turn signals? Or does each side have it own?

I had the same thing happen, then stop happening, a couple weeks ago. Looks like a common malady by the number of folks here reporting it. Mine is a 2005 z71, so not fixed by GM yet
