Here's a pic of my '89 with new paint. Purple Pearl over Black Sapphire and Purple

And a pic of my Teal '93 daily driver. Lots of work to do to it. Lowering, roll pan, and paint.

Thanks alot MustGoFaster. The brushgaurd is a Go Rhino! Sumatra 3000 Series StepGuard. The parts that I swapped from the Tahoe include the captains buckets, center console, power windows, power locks, interior door panels, keyless entry, and the upper console (on the ceiling). It's hard to believe that the two vehicles had the exact same color and cloth style interior. I replaced the steering column with a tilt column that I got in a local wrecking yard and rebuilt, I replaced the rear windows with operable units, and replaced the side mirrors with the smaller stock ones. I wish that I had taken a before picture as this was a badly beat work truck when I obtained it. When I say beat, I mean the bed had 2 bolts holding it on, looked like swiss cheese, and it had so much damage to it that I still consider my body man and the guy that sprayed in the bed liner "Miracle Workers". The only interior items I have left is to replace the carpet which is grease stained and the headliner which has some cuts.
Here are some pics of the truck that I built before this one. I sold it to buy the Dually when the family started growing.

might I be pulling with the pickup, I finally got
a CD made today. Yes I have Z's and Novas, even
had a S/G BBC Vega, but this is my favorite. 67

ok, it was dark when i snapped some pics but you get the idea of the new exhaust. yeah its really dirty i know, its from all the christmas tree farms we went to looking for a tree last weekend. tomarrow if it doesn't rain i will scrub her squeeky clean and take some more pics. i also noticed they coated the pipe from the axle back with this black stuff, rust inhibitor i guess.

Nice sounds. I'm seeing those exhaust tips being used a good bit lately. Far nicer looking than those bologna cans. Someone said the doublewalled tips make a big difference in how it sounds. What do you think?

thanks. its really hard to say if they change the tone alot without taking them off, but the exhaust guy said they deepin it a little bit. i just liked the look of them to the straight single walled tips and don't care much for the rolled lip. i think they look big and tough.

Exhaust Specialties did the work, its located here in beaverton. they have a few other locations, the closest shop to you is in north portland. its a bit of a drive for you but you don't have to pay tax down here. i'm very happy with their work and they sure seem to know what they are doing. when i do a true dual setup with headers for my caprice i am definately having them do it for me. the 3" pipe from the cat back, flowmaster, dual 2-1/4 pipes, and stainless tips all installed came up to $425. seems worth it to me with the fun factor i have now.

Nice snow action there Tom.

Here's mine. No snow, but theres plenty of sand where I took this pic.

Hey, MustGoFaster you know I was kidding right?

I do have a '99 and its the one in the middle, but my Arizona friends both have 97s so I'll put the picture here on the 88-98 forum too.

yeah, in Northern MN, the most fun I had last winter is when this one storm dumped HUGE snow and we got snowdrifts half a foot higher then the hood of my truck. it would be half foot snow then a MOTHER of a drift. I experimented with snowdrift BLASTING. when you hit a drift that big at 40~45 mph, it EXPODES! you kinda feel like you just landed in a couple feet of water in your truck and progressively starts slowing abdruptly and everything is white, and with the vent running you get a cab full of snow. Quite the excitement. But realize this is very light dry fluffy snow, not heavy wet stuff.

the next morning I got praises from friends on campus who said if it werent for me they would have been snowed in on campus (it was a holiday and snow crew gone).

good times

I have rebuild the engine with a lot of advice that i found by reading this board, thanks guys, great board

picture from the engine assembly at home

Engine runs great, only the impco lpg gas on top of the TBI is to small, flows only 320cfm and needs to be the bigger 468cfm version to get the full potential from the engine, but that part is on its way.

i want you to be nice until it is time not to be nice

I havent checked into this one for a while, but I am liking the way alot of these trucks look!

Richard, The B-Body 94-96 Impala SS wheels are the ones I want. I was looking on e-bay one time for them, and found them only to be 17' wheels. The ones from my mom's 02 Impala LS would have been perfect if the bolt spacing was correct (those are 15' also). Are there different sizes, or will I have to settle for 17s and recalibrate my speedo? My stock wheels are 15s with slightly bigger tires and the truck is stock height.

Another thing I worry about is the wheels holding up under the force of a truck. There are sometimes when I have to jump a curb, take a dirt road or whatnot, and I cant help but wonder if the wheels are going to break on me.

I figure the 94-96 wheels are the same as the 02 wheels, so I can use the covers that display the bowtie instead of the Impala. I think those wheels would look killer on my truck, as It does on most of the 88-98 trucks. Just gotta get rid of my running boards and replace them with the tubular step bars and with the SS wheels it will look great!

Paul, the old B-body Impala SS wheels are a perfect fit unless you lower the truck a bunch. They stick out just a tiny bit too far for that. By the way, while you're cruising eBay for them, be careful: many are copies and not the real thing. There are a couple Chevy parts departments on there selling the real thing complete with caps, lugs, and valve stems, for the same price as the fakes.

The center cap area on the 17" Impala SS 5-spoke and the 16" Monte Carlo 5-spoke look incredibly similar; if the caps don't interchange, I'd be willing to bet at least the emblem probably is the same size.

How strong they are is a whole 'nother issue. While they do have to hold up the weight of the B-body Impala, which ain't light, they probably weren't designed with truck-style duty in mind. I have no idea what the load rating of these wheels are. And when you go from 15" to 17", you generally have less sidewall height in your tire to protect the wheel from impact. Definitely something to consider. As I've said before, I run the Impala SS OEM tire size on my Caddy truck; 255/50/17 and it's a reasonably tall tire for a 17"; haven't bent a wheel yet and been running that size for 3+ years. While I don't tend to run my lowrider truck over curbs and such, the potholes in Houston sure can be nasty!
