The '93
The govt ordered it from GM sent it down to Armor-Tec in Texas bullet res glass steel plates in the walls ( found that out when i pulled the carpet off the walls and 3/8 A-R plate fell out..that plate at the scrap yard paid for the interior ), then up to salt lake city to Advanced 4 wheel sys for a 1 ton GMC front end and gave it to the Cuban Diplomats in Miami for 3 yrs then the Nevada state maintenance sys got it to look for oil in Elco Nev. then the Utah Olympics took it and put 10k in the appulistry paint and drive line, 4 mos after that i got it in a auction for 12.5k
'93 G30 454 4X4 EXT, 4l80E, np205, 4-56 spicers in a Dana ft & GM Corp rear, Bilstien 5100's, BFG 315/75/16, 146" wheelbase. This was all factory or govt, well almost I have increased the tire size to mellow The Beast, still way more motor than tire, only made 3, Its a 2 seater ripped out the 4 bench seats & diamond the floor, oaked the walls, fishing rod racks, limo roof, 12 speaker 1000 watt sony surround, exercise bike, telescope that you can count the rings of Saturn and oh yea a Hammock to sleep in and watch the stars.
The Beast has done 270 miles of the Baja 1000 in 03 as a chase truck (got 8 MPG ), from here to Tuson & back in 10 hrs, 6 ft in the air behind Lake Morena, last May I took a 7 week road trip to the Florida Keys and back 6700 miles ( got 14 MPG). I have 2 of these one for the dirt - one for the street, the other '92 G30 454 EXT.

I must say those vans are fantastic! I`ve always had something for those style of Chevy Vans from the 70`s to the early 90`s. Loving the mods you`ve done...and seriously no better way I could think of to follow NASCAR around for a couple years! Great idea, and awesome work!

Nice clean truck! Got the same thing in a half-ton 5.7 gas pot Best vehicle I`ve ever owned! Still runnin`strong at 362k. I must say though, you`ve got an interesting option package with power everything yet no air bags

Huh! Steering stabilizer on the 2WD G-van? Interesting. I'd always thought one would be a good addition to my old '94 3500HD, especially still running the steel wheels and some super-heavy 245/70/19.5 G-rated Goodyears.
Anyhow, another very cool van, thanks for the pics and keep 'em coming as the project continues! We're pretty under-represented as far as van owners go in this forum, we have a few members with them but mostly it's trucks. Doesn't mean the vans are any less welcome!
MadDog - the 2500's and heavier in this body style never got airbags. In fact in the '97 dash refresh the passenger side got a storage compartment instead of an airbag. Kinda cool...if you don't care about airbags.
From my project pages, the passenger side of the dash in my buddy Dan's '99 C3500 chassis cab -

Both of my van have dual stabilizers cause of the 18ft length ...

They kinda help keep it in line...actually the red one does better in the wind than the white one, the 92 has running boards and acts like an air dam on the ft of a Nascar, down pressure and just pushes the van side ways.....I brought it here to San Diego from Cedar Rapids in 4 days of white out blizzards....talking about a one eyed monkey trip....

But they are my BOW TIES & PROUD of them.....I get to drive a 1 of 3 (189k on the clock)or 1 of 16 (108k on the clock)daily...my biggest problem in the morning is which one to drive....
Do I go to the river ...

Or just to the mts

Either way they are ADRENALIN BY THE GALLON

I dropped the 92 off for a tune up while I took the kids out to Plaster City for a bike ride...

Bone stock 350 with light mods:
Shorty headers, 40 Flowmaster, QTP electronic cutout, K&N Intake, Summit MAF, BBK Throttle body, Powermaster 140amp Alt, E3 Plugs, MSD Street fire wires, MSD Coil.
4L60-E with light mods:
Rebuilt by Summit Trans with 9 clucth pac, mild shift kit, HD sunshell. Not sure of brand parts, this is the only mod I did not do myself.
Rear end:
Just added an Auburn LSD.
Suspension:
3-4 Lowering kit, Sway bar in rear, toxic shocks. 20" MB wheels, Falken tires.
Paint:
Done by Nice and Easy in Chula Vista, Ca
Bumper and Valance with fog light inserts from LMC. 4" Cowl hood from LMC. Headlight, marker and tail lights from LMC.
I think that is everything, I have been working on her for about 6 years little by little. I really want to do a Supercharger next, but that will be another year or so because of costs.
