That looks much better than bling [which really doesn't belong on a truck anyway]. Looks like you leveled it too...does it sit low in the back?

Gotcha, I remember when first factory 'pre-runners' hit the market. I still watch the Baja type races when I can.

I don't know what you had on it before but it looks good now.

this is what I had on before, Kaotic 20's.

Didn't look bad, just couldn't justify the cost of the tires I wanted. Over 400$ apiece!

I just bought it last week. All it needs is a cowl hood and I'm good to go.

Judging by the "1999 K1500" in your sig, you must mean the GMT400 series - 1988-1998 body style. Those would be in the 1988-1998 fullsize truck section of the board, which has its own Members Rides thread full of great pics.

(The post began in 2004 and is still being updated, so you may see the typical bunch of broken picture links in the older portions of the thread.)

You could really get 'em by getting a 2002 GMT455 3500HD, nobody will ever believe you that it's a 2002. Last year the GMT400 style body was used and most don't know it. I also can just about swear to having seen a 2003 3500HD old body and ran the VIN to be sure because I myself didn't believe it, but I didn't save the info and now couldn't find it to save my life. By the way the 2001-2002 GMT455 3500HD were the only ones with the 8.1 to be used in them and also the only years that GMT455 3500HD's were no longer manufactured exclusively in the Janesville WI plant.

http://www.someotherplace.com/forum/2001_81.jpg

http://www.someotherplace.com/forum/2002_81.jpg

Those two examples were built in Mexico as denoted by the first digit "3" in the VIN. I think all the 2001-2002 GMT455 3500HD's were built there but I haven't compared enough VIN's to say for 100% sure.

Spending too much time being a truck nerd,

How about we start a thread here with nothing but posts from owners, with a picture of their truck (big enough to actually look at). The moderators could delete all of the "Nice Truck" and "Looks Good" posts, or we could just refrain from making them... I for one joined this forum to look for ideas and pictures of other trucks, and I stayed because of all the great information posted... I'd just like to see a thread where we could go to browse pictures of everybodies trucks, without having to follow links, which normally don't work (for me)...

Picked up this 2000 Silverado for a song yesterday.

Previous owner really pampered it.

It will become my work truck.

I haven't posted in this thread yet. In spring 2012 we purchased a 2000 Suburban 1500LS 2WD with 172K miles on eBay for $3100. Right down the road from Wichita Falls in Mansfield, TX, and we picked it up later the same week from the owner's house. He got a 2006 model to replace it. It's got the full towing package (but the receiver is missing), 3.73 posi rear end, leather, both front power seats (but not heated), CD stereo (CD player doesn't work), 8 passenger seating, panel doors in back, defoggers, roof rack, tube running boards, and aluminum wheels wrapped in LT265/75R16 tires. Here's a couple pics:

Within 4000 miles we expected to make some repairs. At the time dealers were getting $8000-$10000 for trucks in the same shape, same age, same miles. It came time to replace the transmission and shocks, so we did. $3200 bill from the Chevy dealer for all that plus an AC service, U-joints, and rear axle fluid service. A few months later the fuel pump failed and we got that replaced along with the serpentine belt, belt tensioner, and idler pulley for about $1100. Since then it's been minor maintenance (oil changes, fuel/air filters, swapped batteries to go from the 585CCA one it had to an 850CCA Interstate Megatron) and another $1100 for a set of Michelin LTX MS2 tires (because they last forever!). For the last ten thousand miles this truck has been working AAA roadside up here in Ohio. Here's my wife showing off the decal:

Current mileage is 208828. We get 17-18mpg in freeway driving, 13-14mpg in city driving, and more like 11-12mpg working roadside in this cold when it's no fun to shut the truck off while working calls. So it runs 14-16 hours a day, drives anywhere from 150-250 miles a day, and we should be at 225K and 250K in no time at all.

This site is amazingly informative and just fun too.
So, here's my 2000 Z-71 with 289000 miles and the original 5.3 hangin in there!
