Has anyone had experience with the reproduction 1961-64 window channels that are available from vendors such as Auto City Classic? Specifically, the rear quarter window pieces for a convertible.

Are they worth purchasing, or are they junk that should be avoided in favor of re-chromed OEM pieces?

At least you'll know OEM parts will fit. Repops never the same quality or fitment as the originals.

Gary is correct.

I rechrome my original lower rear 1/4 frames -that are pot metal, in Overland Park, Kansas (they do pot metal). I rechrome my original upper rear 1/4 frames and upper front door frames and vent window frames at a local rechrome shop that chromes steel (they do not do pot metal). This comment does not include the outside vent frames "that are also pot metal" -in fact Auto City does not sell the "outside" vent frames. I rechrome my original pot metal outside vent frames in Kansas.

I have completed 5 frame off restorations including a friends 62 SS and 4 of my 1962's in the last 10 years using my rechromed original frames and new Auto City Classic tinted date codes E-Z-Eye marked glass(vs just tinted green)

If you look at the Auto City Classic price for a set of 6 pieces of tinted 62-64 Chevy Hardtop side glass its sold for$ 189. Their price for all 6 pieces with the reproduction frames is $ 899. You can do lots of rechroming for $ 710. In fact you could rechrome 2 sets of orginal 62 to 64 Hardtop (or convertible) frames for $ 710 from my experience.

For only the rear 1/4 glass with reproduction frames Auto Cities price is $ 600 for both sides. So you have $ 500 to rechrome your original rear 1/4 frames, since tinted RR 1/4 glass can be purchased for $90 ---And you know your originals will fit.
