Does anyone know if the screws that fasten the trim around the headliner screw into the tack strip or is there a clip? If a clip is necessary where can you get these?

There is a drilled and taped hole for each screw no clips it is part of the roof bracing structure. I put my screws in about half way then installed headliner, I could find them easily cut a small slit on head and they popped through.

Thanks 69_Bowtie. Do you happen to know the screw size? The kit I bought from Classic Industries doesn't seem to have large enough screw. This is also the case for the visors. The holes seem larger than the screws provided in the screw kit. They don't appear to be wallered out...just a larger size. As a matter of fact the side trim for the headliner has 3 screw holes. Does this make any sense to you?

Thanks,
msp177

The curved aluminum side trim on 2 door hardtops are attached with screws through the tack strips(on the horizontal sections) on both sides into the body. Put the screws in before finishing the headliner and/or use the trim to find the holes after marking the first screw hole from the front to position the long aluminum trim piece(I had a professional headliner installer -a friend, who reinstalled my headliner trim)

The sunvisors have 3 larger mounting screws for each visor bracket- (as compared to the screws for the long interior aluminum trim above the Hardtop side glass

I think the 3 holes you noted might be the holes for the headliner bows(see the attached picture) that have 3 holes in the body at each top bow mounting location -only one is used for each bow)

I have original chrome philips screws pictures I can post for the aluminum side trim and the sunvisor brackets (to compare to your new screws).

Don't forget the holes in the headliner for the coat hooks above the rear 1/4 glass

Paul

Thanks Paul. Do you know the sizes of the screws for the aluminum trim and visors? Also, what is the best source for the tack stips? I think they are 1/2" x 1/2" cardboard.
