I have the chance to buy a really nice set of bumpers form a 1954. I guess the rear is the same as my 53. I'm thinking the front is different. I am just wondering what changes would have to be made to fit my 53? Maybe the filler panel. They both have the original brackets with them.

Thanks for the Help.

Keep the rear--they are the same. But sell the '54 front bumper. Plenty of guys are looking for a good '54 bumper.

I thought the back were the same. I would like to use the front one if there is a way I can. Just wondering if anyone has done it or, if it is possible.

Thanks for your reply.

I know the filler panels are very different at the bumper, but the question is are the front of the fenders very similar in shape for the mounting surface of the panel? Mounting holes can be made or slotted, if needed. I would think this is doable.
Good luck. Let us see the finished product.

I know the mounting brackets are different, due to where they bolt to the bumper, not the car. It comes with the brackets. The frame is the same so I'm thinking it will bolt up. The contour of the panel will definitely be different because the front bumper is shaped differently. Oh well we will see.

53 splash panel is flat across the bottom fender to fender. As the 54 is taller where it meets the 54 fender under the parking or signal light chrome on the side. 53 bumper is flatter across front as the 54 has more curvature.

You'd have to swap the front clip, less hood, for the splash pan to follow the contour of the bumper.

Thanks Ed, for chiming in. That's what I thought too, but I wasn't 100% sure.

Thanks guys, that's what I needed to know. I knew someone would have the info on that. I am going to pick up both bumpers because the price is good. Someone might need the 54 front bumper.

Thanks again.

The 53 front fenders go all the way down to reach the splash pan. Front marker lights are in the grill opening. On the 54's the front fenders only go down as far as the marker lamp/grill bar and the splash pan goes up on the ends to reach behind the marker lamp and fasten together there. This style was used on the 55's too.

Is the front bumper for sale? If so is it a 1 piece? Let me know I'm in the market for one
