So I parked my impala, got the 327 to start my rebuild and when I came back to it a few months later the doors wouldn’t open. The 2 back doors wouldn’t open when I got her but the fronts were just fine. Now I turn the key and unlock them, but the doors won’t open. Any suggestions to get inside without breaking a window? Anyone have this problem before?

I don't know where in the country you are, but possibly they are frozen shut?

If you can see the locking knobs move up and down when you turn the key, the problem isn't with the locking mechanism. It most likely is the rubber gaskets that are holding the doors closed. I would spray all around the door opening with WD40 using the red tube that comes with the can, to get some lubrication on the rubber. I would start with just one door, and spray the complete opening first. Let is work its magic, and try the door the next day. It might take a few applications to release the rubber from the door opening, and a lot of tugging on the door handle to get it open.

Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.

I live in Oregon on the southern coast. I spayed pb blast around the door and got it inside where the latch is. Still no luck. I’m going to try it again and try it a day or so later to give it more time to penetrate. The car wasn’t parked long enough for it to rust.

Do the lock knobs move up when you unlock the doors? If they are up, then the lock mechanism is working properly.
Assuming the lock knob goes up when you unlock it, you may just have to pull harder. When you push on the button to open the door, there should be a little more resistance when the door is unlocked than with the door locked. You should be able to feel the latch disengage. On my car, the door hinges were so worn out that the door rubbed on the door sill and there was a lot of resistance. Also, with worn hinges, the latch itself can have a grove worn into it that creates a bump that the door has to go over as the door is opened. In both cases, lifting the door up as you try to open it can help.
Other than that, the only thing I can think of is more PB blaster. I would focus on the area of the latch. For my Convertible, the weatherstripping is so bad that I can see the latch by looking down into the door. For a 4 door, I'm not sure if there will be the air gap there that will allow you to see it.

The locks go up & down. I did tug perty hard on it. I’m not a little guy. I’ll try to do it again. Thanx for the suggestions.

Does the resistance in the button get harder when you go to unlock. Like it was said before the lock mechanism frees up the button, when in lock mode. You can feel more pressure on the button after slightly pushing it in when in unlock. Itis
a lever pushing on the ramp to lift the latch when in the unlock mode. It freewheels so to speak when locked.
Try it both ways, if you do feel more pressure when in unlock then you are pushing to lift the latch catch so problem is probably stuck weatherstrips or latch assembly went bad. Don't think both would go bad at the same time while not being used.???

It’s a mystery to me how both sides would do the same. I’m going to try wat you suggested and I’ll get back to you. Thanx for the advice

I hope your frame's not rotten and the doors are pinching.
How's the gaps?
4 door body is pretty rigid though, this is way more of a possibility with convertibles.

Have you tried jacking it up in different locations on the frame, then testing to see if the doors open while jacked up at each location?

Can you open the trunk? If you can, someone very small can sneak through to the interior of the car and try the door pulls and push from the inside.

The trunk opens but there’s a solid wall. No getting through.
