My 02 Tahoe has 130K on it

on a smooth road from a stop I can hear and feel the 2 gear engage

smoothly, the third gear has a louder noise or thunk noise like a loose

u-joint

Is the tranny going to kaboom?? Thanks

Your description doesn't point to a trans issue, check all mounts and u joints, best advice from limited info available.

there is no clunk going through the rest of the gears, only in the last one

You can't normally tell it, unless it is a smooth road

Thats hard to find here in New Mexico
